This past Sunday my ohana & I headed over to the Maui Arts & Cultural Center for a fun afternoon of slack key guitar music. Some of Hawaii’s most renown slack key guitar musicians played for the community in this free annual event. The official name for this beloved summer event is “Ki Ho’alu Guitar Festival” and it’s sponsored by The Maui News.
We met with our friends, whom we consider our “ohana from another mama” – you kind of do that here, being so far away from blood relatives your close friends become your island family.
Our boys loved playing with “Uncle” while the sweet Hawaiian music filled the air. And we enjoyed just hanging out together, enjoying the outdoors & a peaceful afternoon.
If you’re in Maui next June, I highly recommend taking time out of your vacation to enjoy this special time, filled with tradition, beautiful music & fun friends!
