Ohana, Furniture, Careers, School, Adventure, this and that…

Aloha friends!

As you know my family & I recently found the wonderful hiking trails of the Makawao Forest Reserve. We’ve already been twice this week. I’d probably go every day if it were up to me. As the ocean is my soul, the woods are my breath. Seriously, being in the woods just makes me breathe easier…seeing the amazing height of the trees makes me stand in awe. I love it!

This photo with my boys warms my heart…that’s how much of this summer has been…adventurin’ together, explorin’ this island with eyes of wonder and hopefully growing more fully into who we were made to become.

This summer has been full of life and I’m trying to prepare myself for the start of school, when my youngest enters kindergarten. That’s hard on a momma, you know? The one benefit to having a few hours of daylight by myself will be that I can work more on my projects for Island Gypsy Hawaii. And add to my collection for those of you who love island style furniture and gifts.

Did I tell you that I ended up winning the 1st Annual Upcycle Challenge hosted by the Maui Habitat for Humanity ReStore? I was so blessed by the votes and to top it off the piece that I refinished sold on the spot. That means those funds went directly back to the Habitat for Humanity to aid in ending poverty housing here in Maui. Win:Win for sure!!!

Another little “ohana” update would be the great adventure my husband has embarked in becoming a real estate agent here in Hawaii. He was made for this career! He loves helping people, he loves houses (both of us do!!!) and he loves learning facts (like property information, best buys, etc.). It’s a lot of work but it’s wonderful to see how happy Greg is as he continues building the foundation of his business.

Well, tomorrow is Happy Aloha Friday…hoping to make it to the beach soon! What are your plans for the weekend?

Happy thoughts anyone? xoxo Island Gypsy
