Happy Father’s Day from Maui!
For those of you new to Island Gypsy Hawaii, I started a blog series back in April, “Instagramming Maui: A to Z of My Island Life.” You can find a post that includes links to the entire series here, which I’ll be adding to on a regular basis. And here’s a link to my instagram site in case you’d like to stop by there.
“O” is for…
O is for Ohana.
Maui on Father’s Day…May yours be full of love, laughter, and waves! “Ohana” of course means family in Hawaiian and is the perfect tie-in for Father’s Day. 🙂
My hubby, Greg Poppy, and our two boys love body boarding together. The photo above was taken on Kauai back in November 2012, but it’s the perfect capture of their time on the waves. Greg heading out deep, Bryan doing something crazy and Gabriel hanging near the shore (although he braves the waters a lot more these days).
Greg and I became “instant parents” when Bryan came into our lives. With one phone call we went from being newlyweds of nearly three years to parents of a two-year-old. So, Greg’s first Father’s Day was eight years ago, and our lives were turned upside down, but for the better! We had Gabriel a couple of years later, and the rest is history. I’m a gal surrounded by guys, and I wouldn’t change it for anything. Greg’s journey of fatherhood has been just that, a journey, and he’s always growing, always loving, always wanting to provide physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally his very best for his boys. That in itself is a gift, that desire to go above and beyond as a daddy. I’m one grateful Maui mama.
How will you celebrate Father’s Day this year?
With mucho aloha,
